About this speaker

Jasmine Banks (She/Her), is the Executive Director of UnKoch My Campus, a non-profit organization that is dedicated to pulling back the curtain on dark money donations and their impact on higher education. As ED, Jasmine has traveled to a number of higher ed institutions to speak with students and faculty about donor transparency and academic freedom. Jasmine is also a former non-profit co-founder, digital organizer and strategist, Chief Marketing Officer, and small business owner. As a first-generation high school and university graduate, she understands the critical role that all education plays in shaping our democracy. Jasmine joined UnKoch My Campus as a digital organizer (after extensive work at both the Ms. Foundation for Women and NARAL Pro-Choice America). Her exceptional leadership with the digital program led to her promotion as Executive Director. Jasmine’s strategic approach, in all of her organizing, is to center the most vulnerable communities impacted by structural oppression.

Jasmine received her both BS in Psychology and Communications and her MA in Community Counseling from John Brown University in Arkansas. In 2014, Jasmine was a TEDx Arkansas Speaker on “Authentic Digital Communications.” In addition to her role as Executive Director at UnKoch My Campus, Jasmine is a national speaker on radical self-care for people of color, a workshop facilitator for "Waking Up White" ally training, and a national workshop facilitator for “Cross Movement Collaboration.” She was on the Diversity and Inclusion Advisory Committee for Sage Therapeutics, as well as the Diversity and Inclusion Advisory Committee for Blogher 2016. In 2018, Jasmine was a part of the Rockwood Strengthening Democracy cohort, and she is honored to be a part of the Higher Heights Black Women Civic Leader Fellowship 2020.

Jasmine is a mother of four, eternal fan of Beyoncé, and passionate supporter of her queer Black community. She has spoken with members of the media in many formats, from print (The New York Times Magazine), to podcasts, and a variety of outlets online, including The Nation, WSJ, Teen Vogue, and many more, on topics ranging from academic freedom to digital organizing, race, parenthood and more.
